Circulating coagulation particles or venous thrombosis risk factors

A study in France showed that circulating CPP and platelet-derived microparticles (PMP) concentrations in patients with acute pulmonary embolism (APE) were significantly higher than those without cardiovascular risk factors. PMP may be a major source of procoagulant granules in patients with APE, but the association has disappeared compared with patients with cardiovascular risk factors. The results suggest that CPMP may be a risk factor for venous thrombosis in patients with cardiovascular risk factors. The study was published online December 25 in the International Journal of Cardiology (Int J Cardiol) magazine.
